About STAD
Support Trust for African Development (STAD) is an officially registered, in 2002 as independent non-profit organization. The main founding goal was to support education of Sudanese refugee orphans in Northern Uganda. In 2004, STAD expanded its activities to include socio- economic, health, empowerment, capacity and peace building & environmental protection programs for the less privileged groups (women, orphans, refugees, youth and the elderly) for self reliance and positive change in their lives and communities. STAD derives its motivation from the famous Chinese saying “feed a hungry man today, he will be hungry; teach him how to fish, he can have food tomorrow; educate his child (ren), you have given him a future.
We support through our partner organisations in Northern Uganda “Youth and Women Community Development Organization (YWCDO) and in South Sudan, St. Mark Episcopal Church Alero Boma, Equatoria Women Association “EWA” and Payawa Primary Health Care Centre programs on health and water and Sanitation education, HIV/Aids/ Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs); Gender equality, Human /Women and Children’ rights; Social Gender/Domestic Based Violence (SGDBV), Peace building and family values education, Adult literacy, Entrepreneurship and life skills oriented trainings for self reliance and United Nations Security Council Resolution No (UNSCRN) 1325 on: Women, Peace and Security in South Sudan.
